MindFlare is a personal blog — one person writing about ordinary days in Singapore. I don't run a shop, sell courses, or operate a company through this site. Still, because there's a contact form and a small cookie banner, I owe you a plain explanation of what gets collected, why, and what you can do about it under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

Who handles your data

I am Arjun, the sole operator of mindflare.life. For data-protection purposes, I'm the person responsible for any personal information submitted through this website. You can reach me at [email protected], by phone at +65 6228 4218, or by post at Blk 20 Ghim Moh Road, #03-88, Singapore 270020.

What the contact form collects

When you use the Say hello form, I receive:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • The subject line you choose
  • Your message text
  • Confirmation that you ticked the consent checkbox
  • A timestamp in Singapore time when the form is submitted

I use this information exclusively to read and reply to you. I don't add you to a newsletter, pass your details to advertisers, or sell lists. If we exchange emails, your address lives in my inbox until I delete the thread — no fancy CRM, just mail.

Consent and the checkbox

The consent checkbox on the contact form is never pre-ticked. You must actively agree before anything sends. That agreement is my basis for processing your message under the PDPA. If you change your mind later, email me and ask me to delete what I hold — I'll do it within a reasonable time unless I'm legally required to keep something (which, for a personal blog, is unlikely).

Honeypot and spam

The form includes a hidden field that humans shouldn't fill in. Bots that auto-fill every field get silently redirected without their message reaching me. This protects my inbox, not your privacy — your legitimate submissions are unaffected.

How long I keep messages

I retain contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond and for a sensible follow-up window — usually no more than twelve months unless we're mid-conversation and you want to continue. Old threads get deleted during inbox clean-ups. You can request earlier deletion anytime.

Cookies on MindFlare

Cookies are small text files your browser stores. This site uses very few:

  • Essential cookies — remember your cookie-banner choice so you aren't nagged every visit. Stored for six months.
  • Analytics cookies (optional) — only if you accept them. I may use lightweight, privacy-minded analytics to see which journal entries get read and whether pages load correctly. I don't use them to build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.

On first visit, a banner offers Accept all, Reject all, or Customise. Your choice is saved for six months. Clear your browser cookies anytime to reset it, or email me if you have questions.

Hosting and server logs

My hosting provider automatically logs technical data — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps. I don't personally comb these logs to identify readers. They exist for security, uptime, and fixing broken links. Logs rotate and expire according to the host's policy.

Third-party links

I occasionally link outward — for example to the Personal Data Protection Commission website. Those sites have their own policies. I'm not responsible for what they do with your data if you visit them.

Your PDPA rights

Under Singapore law, you may:

  • Ask whether I hold personal data about you
  • Request a copy of that data
  • Ask me to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask me to delete your data
  • Withdraw consent for future processing

Email [email protected] with your request. I'll respond within a reasonable period. If you're unhappy with my reply, contact the Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.

Children

MindFlare is written for a general audience and isn't aimed at children. I don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under thirteen via the contact form. If you're a parent and believe your child submitted data, contact me and I'll remove it.

International visitors

The site is hosted with Singapore in mind, but readers may browse from anywhere. By submitting the contact form, you send data to me in Singapore. I handle it according to the PDPA and the practices described on this page.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect data — HTTPS, sensible passwords, not sharing inbox access. No system is perfect. Don't send sensitive identifiers (NRIC, bank details, passwords) through the contact form. I will never ask for them.

Changes to this note

If my practices change — new analytics tool, different retention — I'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be described here in plain language, not buried in legalese.
